On Thursday, September 26th, 2019 at 3:16 AM, Marshall County Officer Wozniak initiated a
traffic stop on a gray 2003 Volkswagen passenger vehicle on US 30 near Hawthorn Road.
During the investigation, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from
inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the findings of
marijuana, marijuana hash, and a schedule 2 controlled substance. The driver, Eli S.
Merced III of Saint Charles, Illinois, was taken to the jail for possession of marijuana,
possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a schedule I-IV controlled substance.

Love Arrested for Domestic Battery


On Sunday September 22, 2019 at approximately 10:05 A.M. the Marshall County Sheriff`s
Department received a report of a physical domestic disturbance in the 8000-blk of Dart
St. in Bremen. The incident was reportedly between a male and female with the male
leaving the residence. The male was located and identified as Jacquese A. Love of South
Bend. After investigating the incident, Marshall County Sheriff`s Deputies arrested
Jacquese and he was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Domestic Battery – Physical
Presence of a Child less than 16 Y.O.A. and Driving While Suspended – Prior.

Breast Cancer Shirts Available to Support Ounce of Prevention Marshall County

It is that time of year again.  We will once again be selling Breast Cancer Awareness Shirts to raise money for Ounce of Prevention Marshall County.  Orders can be placed at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office records department. The first order will be placed On September 23rd.  We hope to have the shirts by October 1st.  Money is due at the time of ordering.

On September 21, 2019 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Marshall Co. Police Officer Bennett
conducted a traffic stop on a passenger car in the area of W. Walnut St. and Clinton St.
in Argos. The driver was identified as 29 year old Kayla N. Shultz of Rochester, IN. Kayla
was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken to Plymouth Hospital for a
certified test, which later showed to be almost twice the legal limit of alcohol. Kayla
was lodged into the county jail for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a
Person and Operating a Vehicle With An ACE of .15 Or More.

Malkowski Arrested for Arson


On Monday July 29th, 2019 at approximately 5:11 pm, Marshall County Sheriffs Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshals Office along with multiple area fire agencies
responded to a house fire in the 2800 block of Plymouth LaPorte Trail.
The property owner, James Malkowski, was located that evening in a wooded area near the
residence. When speaking with James, he admitted to being home at the time of the fire in
which a dog perished. During the investigation it was found that James had made
threatening comments through text messages indicating that he was going to burn his house
down just prior to the fire starting.
An arrest warrant was issued and James was located and taken into custody on Friday,
September 6th, 2019.
