2 Arrested For Meth Possession

On June 23, 2022 at approximately 11:50 P.M a Marshall County Deputy performed a traffic stop on a Chevy Impala
on the on ramp to US 31 northbound from Veterans Pkwy. The vehicle was occupied by a driver, Stephanie Williams
and passenger Matthew Sanders. During the stop K9 Officer Bear was deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the
vehicle. Upon doing so, K9 Officer Bear alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. After further
investigation the deputy located suspected methamphetamine, controlled substances, paraphernalia, suspected
marijuana and scales inside the vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle also had paraphernalia on his person. Both
occupants were charged with Possession of methamphetamine greater than 10 grams but less than 28 grams,
possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. They were booked
and lodged at the Marshall County Jail on these charges.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that
a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are
presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by
jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be
made.
