Cooper Arrested for Methamphetamine

On Friday, November 15th, 2019 at 1:59 AM, Marshall County Police, along with Lapaz Fire
and EMS were dispatched to the Speedway Gas Station in Lapaz for a female that was
unresponsive.
Officer Wozniak arrived on scene and located the female, later identified as Kacey L.
Cooper. She was showing signs of intoxication by illegal narcotics. She was examined by
EMS, however signed a refusal. She was found to have an active warrant through this
county. She was also found to be in possession of a syringe and a small amount of
methamphetamine. She was taken to the Hospital to be examined and to gain jail
clearance. She was then transported to the jail for possession of methamphetamine,
unlawful possession of a syringe, false informing and an active warrant.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable
cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only
probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent
throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to
a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable
doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
