Smith Arrested for OWI

On October 20, 2019 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Marshall Co. Police were responding to a
report of vehicle traveling all over the roadway in the area of State Road 17 and 12th
Road. Officer Bennett located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop with the
vehicle in the area of State Road 17 and 10B Road. The driver was identified as 21 year
old Blake Smith of Plymouth, IN. Blake was found to be under the influence of alcohol and
was taken to Plymouth Hospital for a certified test, which later showed Blake to be
almost three times the legal limit of alcohol. Blake was lodged into the county jail for
Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person and Operating a Vehicle With
An ACE of .15 Or More.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable
cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only
probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent
throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to
a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable
doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
